I love Collective Soul for many reasons. They are a band formed by five very talented men (Ed, Dean, Joel, Will and Cheney), very gorgeous men by the way. I like this group because of the great and fantastic music they play, their beautiful, touching and rocking lyrics and their amazing shows. Last but not least, I love Collective Soul because they are great people and they show and return love to their fans.
The talent of this band has been proved many times with all their #1 hits and their platinum albums. I think “Shine”, “The World I Know”, “December”, among other of their songs, have been listened for all people at least once, even they didn’t know who sang. They have sold 10 million records and more from their begin in 1993 with Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid until Afterwords (2007), their last album. Now they are working on a new album (Rabbit), which I know would be great like the rest.
The music comes to life in their guitars, drums, keyboards and bass. It is energy, power, strength, and can give all that to people who listen to it. Their music is so emotionally deep that riches people’s soul, it can make you dance or cry or both, so do the lyrics. Every word on each song has a meaning but when they pronounce them together forming a lyric every word gain another one, deeper and a particular purpose. Each word can touch your mind and keep going for hours and touch your soul or leave a mark on one’s heart. They can invite you to reflex about life or simply to LIVE it.
The concerts are the perfect combination of pleasures. You can listen to very good music (and please your hearing), you can see very gorgeous and energetic men (pleasing your sight), you can touch the sky with every song (pleasing the sense of touch) and you can smell and taste the flavour of the success of such a good band when all people sing and applaud them. It is just amazing and unbelievable how Ed can dance, jump and move like he does!. He is definitively the best front man for a band.
The love to Collective Soul can be seen in many web pages (blogs, bulleting boards, youtube, social media websites, etc) where people post talking about them, about the love they feel for the band, about the day they met them and the sweet they were, or the pictures they took with them. Besides, this great band has became such a phenomenal thing around social media websites, specially on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/collective_soul), where each day they gain more and more followers. But this is not a free thing, they deserve that because all the work they have done and for the attention and love they actually give to their fans. They daily post pics, videos, messages that maybe fans are not used to receive from a band they like, because things like this are rarely to happen, but Collective Soul is not just any band, they are THE BAND. They are also doing many contest for fans to win big (tickets, autographed guitars, autographed photos, etc.), isn’t that amazing?, aren't they fabulous?. I have felt all I mentioned above for Collective Soul, and their music mean too much for me; they really touch my soul and heart. I was too excited about they coming to my country (it was a dream come true) and the possibility to be in one of their concerts, but life was nice with me and I could go to two shows here in Caracas, Venezuela. I still can’t believe that. I would love to go to one of the concerts in this new tour they are doing this summer with Gavin DeGraw (http://www.collectivesoul.com/live/) and meet them (second part of my dream).
